Waddell's, fish curers, was originally established by Robert Waddell, great grandfather of the present owner, in 1870. The first premises were located on the sea front but were prone to flooding at spring tides or during storms. In 1920 Robert's son, another Robert Waddell, moved the business to its present site in Mason's Wynd.
When Robert Waddell (Junior) died in 1961 his son, John, carried on the business and started a series of improvements which have been continued by his son, Ian Waddell, to ensure that the premises meet current EC regulations. In 1997 Cameron Crombie became a partner in the business.
Over the years there have been many changes and improvements in the service offered by this family business. Waddell's now offer the highest quality of traditionally produced fish with an attention to quality and detail that comes from many years of experience.
